1993 Mustang Cobra #4563 of 4993     3450lbs  12.0sec@118mph  505rwhp/524tq

Purchased in the winter of 1993 for $19,700, this beautiful show-winning Mustang is a limited edition 1993 teal Mustang Cobra.  In the 1993 model year, only 4,993 of these Cobra models were made. Only 800 of those were Teal hardtop. My goal has been to preserve the unique Cobra features of the car (appearance, intake, wheels, etc.) while making improvements to those elements that needed enhancement such as the engine, suspension, and traction.  This car was the first of my three Mustangs to grace my garage.

Sporting a 347 cubic inch (5.7 liter) stroker motor with forged internals and AFR 185 aluminum heads with a Vortech supercharger blowing 12 PSI, this car made 505 rear wheel horsepower and 525 lb-ft of torque on the dyno at Mustang Ranch. Its fastest track time at Sac is 12.020 seconds @ 118 mph! But that was on the original 5.0 motor, it has not been tracked with the new 347 motor.

This car MOVES like no other, and it also stops well with the stock Cobra 4 wheel disc brakes. Traction is provided by the fat rear drag radials coupled with a torque arm and panhard rod, and handling by the front coil-overs.

I am the original owner of this car and have spent over $75,000 modifying it. This car has been meticulously maintained, and as a result it still looks like it rolled off the showroom floor. You can visit this car's website at http://93cobra.freeservers.com

In 1993, the hot new Cobra hatchback was the last of the great Fox Mustangs. Developed by Dearborn's newly formed Special Vehicle Team, the Cobra Mustang packed a new higher-output Cobra 302 with GT40 heads, tuned-runner intake manifold, and a revised cam.

The Cobra came with rear disc brakes instead of drums, the first factory Mustang since the SVO to have them. Ford also went against conventional hot-car wisdom by using softer springs, shocks, and bushings and a smaller front stabilizer bar versus the GT. Stock Cobras ran 5.9 second 0-60 mph, according to Road&Track, whose test Cobra also clocked 14.5 seconds at 98 mph in the quarter-mile.

The Cobra’s exterior included SVO taillamps, handsome seven-blade alloy wheels, a Cobra-specific nose with a small running-horse emblem, ground effects and a rear spoiler for a speedy, sophisticated package.
